Thornwell Shipton is wealthy, uptight, closeted, and an incurable workaholic. A tragic love affair left him terrified of relationships, so he tells himself sex is better scheduled and paid for.

Riley Dashwood is young, easy-going, and comfortable in his own skin. He’s a passionate baker and an aspiring chef, working as an escort to save up for culinary school.

They’re clearly made for each other.

When Thorne hires Dash, it’s lust at first sight. After a few scorching nights together, both men start to wonder if what’s between them is more than physical, but their age gap and resistance to romance make them afraid to change their professional relationship to a personal one. Dash pushes Thorne to admit he wants things he’s denied himself for years. Kinky things. Soft, caring things. Things that force him to open his heart, not just his body. To move forward, one or the other must take a risk and ask for what he really wants.

My View:

This is like a modern day take on Pretty Woman only Julia Roberts has been swapped out for the very dominant, very sassy and very male Riley Dashwood.

Riley, or Dash as he calls himself when he is working, is a rent boy saving his money for college and his dreams of owning a bakery one day. He enjoys what he does and isn’t bothered what other people think. He provides a service, an often well needed service and he provides it well. A new customer on a Friday night shakes things up and possibly for the first time Dash is left unsettled.

Thornwell Shipton never stops working. Remnants of his childhood have left him feeling like he has something to prove and prove himself he has. He is a huge success within his field, he has the nice home and extravagant things in life and he is worth millions but it has all come at a cost. He lives a closeted life hiring an agency every Friday night for his hour or so of relief. Thorne exists more than he lives but when Dash comes into his life he doesn’t know what’s hit him.

The chemistry between this pair is off the charts! The sex may start out as a paid transaction but that doesn’t stop things becoming very hot very quickly. Silvia Violet always seems to offer up men that are good for each other even though there is always the initial struggle to get them to see that for themselves. Dash kind of creeps under Thorne’s skin with the use of cupcakes and sexual innuendo and for the first time ever Thorne finds himself evaluating his life and wondering whether he could have more.

It’s not easy for them though. Thorne is used to barging in, taking and owning what he wants but Dash is not having any of that. Dash wants to be equal, to be loved and to make his own plans for life so somehow they much reach a compromise if things are going to work.

This is a great first book in a series and I’m looking forward to where the author takes both these men next.
