A month ago, Calvin Blackwood found himself in the company of vampires, having been hired to use his talent as a witch to summon a demon. That demon ended up saving his life. In the time since, he hasn’t been able to forget about Sal. He knows entering a deal with a demon is dangerous, but to save his brother, binding himself to the beautiful demon might be worth the risk.

Sal is a duke among demons. An immortal being, more powerful than a vampire, but who has one admitted weakness, a fondness for humans. When Calvin offers to make a deal, he’s hesitant, but can’t deny his need to be closer to him. He also knows if he doesn’t help him, Calvin will summon another demon, and he knows all too well the treachery of his own kind.

Desire and trust builds between Calvin and Sal. Their relationship grows, but so does a hidden threat, and it might take power greater than a demon duke to save them. It might take that of a witch.

My View:

This sequel was a long time coming – I almost went back to re-read the first book but in the end I was too impatient to get on with this one but it all worked out fine.

Calvin, otherwise known as witchy poo, is a novice witch still very much learning his craft. His brother Nathan, an almost priest, is dying and Calvin is willing to do anything to save him. Even calling up a Demon and exchanging favours isn’t off the table and as a last resort that is exactly what he does.

Sal is probably the least dangerous of the demons that Calvin could have called but he is not without his own brand of sneakiness – he is a demon after all! As luck will have it Sal has been thinking a lot about Calvin (they met in book 1) but without knowing where he was he had no way of contacting him. Sal has a thing for humans and Calvin presses all his buttons. Saving Nathan is not a difficult task for Sal and if it means he gets Calvin for a while then he is more than willing.

Nathan wanting to be saved by a demon however is not going to prove an easy task and Sal getting his witch maybe more difficult than he first thought. Between vampires, holy water and a demon ex things don’t goes as planned and Calvin ends up stuck in the middle of it all.

This was an easy read – the words just flowed. There is scope for more with new characters being introduced as well as getting to spend more time with Malcolm and Basil. The only thing left to mention is that cover – utterly delicious and just how I see Sal in all his demon glory!
