Physically, it’s easy for Ethan and Wyatt to be together—well, if “easy” means stolen moments when Ethan’s roommate is away, or sneaking away to a hidden nook in the library. Privacy is hard to come by in a dorm, but finding ways to connect is half the fun.

Emotionally, though, that’s a different story. Wyatt isn’t sure if a relationship is something he can make last—years of having to hide his emotions have left him with a shaky sense of self-confidence. And when it’s time to head home for the holidays, their steamy on-campus connection may not translate so well to the real world…

Zane’s View:

Absolutely wow.

Once again, I’ve fallen in love with K.A. Mitchell. She writes gay romance like few others can. I never have to wonder if I’m getting a tried-and-true romance when I see one with her name on it.

This is the second book in her Ethan and Wyatt series and it definitely doesn’t disappoint. If you enjoyed the first book in the series, then you’ll love this one. Wyatt, Ethan, and all their friends are back and just as good as I remembered.

The writing for this was exceptional. Each character was unique, with their own voices and way of talking and thinking. Even the secondary characters were fleshed out and realistic. Pretty much any character with more than a single line of dialog felt realistic and true to me.

Her descriptions were just as great. She knew when to describe things and when to leave it up to the reader’s imaginations. We had just enough description to be shown her world without being inundated with minute details and information we didn’t need.

Even the sex was on point. Hot and well written, it went beyond even that. There wasn’t a single sex scene in the book I felt could be cut. Unlike most books in the gay romance genre, there wasn’t just page after page of pointless sex. Each one of the few sex scenes pushed the book further, either in plot or character development.

There was only one fault I could find with this story. Though it was pretty well contained, it didn’t feel like a complete story. It very much felt like a continuation of book one and that it won’t be complete until we get book three. This doesn’t feel so much like a series as it feels like a single book chopped into three parts.

Otherwise, this book is fantastic. I just wished they’d released it as a single novel instead of three novellas.

Queue’s View:

I couldn’t stand this book. I disagree with every single statement Zane made.

Just kidding. I just thought a divisive buddy review would be far more interesting than one where I could basically say ‘ditto’ to everything Zane said. However, the fact that Zane and I agree is kind of a major deal because he has very different taste than I do.

I’m a huge Mitchell fan and simply adored the first book, which I reviewed here.

Getting Him Back was in Ethan’s POV but for this chapter we’re in Wyatt’s. It made for a pleasant change and allowed us to see Wyatt’s family. I adored Uncle Owen. (Will he marry a woman named Beru? {I wonder how many people will get that joke?}) But I didn’t like Ethan’s mother nearly as much.

This was a great tale with Ethan and Wyatt facing realistic issues. They did have a big fight but I never really thought they weren’t going to get back together. And I liked that. There was no angst in this and I liked that. It’s a sweet romance with some genuine emotions.

The sex was out of this out of world romantic and never veered into porn territory. Like Zane said, every love scene worked perfectly into the story.

As with Zane I agree that this tale didn’t feel all the way complete. If you read the first chapter than definitely read this one. If you haven’t read the first one then go and do it right now and then get this one.
