I’m currently in the Isle of Wight on a writing retreat, with two of my favourite people, K.C. Wells and my friend Jason. So, favourite place and favourite friends. Can’t get much happier than this. We are staying in the Lighthouse in Steephill Cove. It’s a new building, not an actual lighthouse, but it’s so cool. I spend my days writing to the sound of the waves, and my nights going to sleep to the sound of the waves.
We all agree that really we don’t want to go home. Do you think the owners would noticed if we locked the doors and stayed here forever? Today we were supposed to go shopping. I spent two days thinking of ways to suggest to KC and Jason that we just make do with what’s in the fridge, rather than venture away from our haven. Turns out they were all thinking the same thing.
I’ve managed to write about 5k per day. I should be writing more, but it doesn’t matter. By the end of the week there will be a sizeable chunk of Alpha Barman (November publication date) written. If I get half of it done, the other half will be easier to finish. She says. Hopefully. Otherwise I’m coming back to the island and moving in with KC ‘til it’s done.
The other thing I’ve been doing is playing Pokémon Go. Good lord, the Pokémon have been leaping at me without me taking a step. It’s been struggle not to play it constantly.
I’m pretty sure this is heaven on earth. A tiny cove on an island which has claimed my heart. Who would have thought that one cheap four-day family holiday would have led to a friendship with KC and a love affair with an island?

He’s being kept out of the loop and Cal’s agenda is running on a different path.
He also has a personal issue to deal with. He’s involved in a cyber-relationship with “Charlie”, an unknown man who connected with Josh by accident. Their banter has led to deeper respect and a sexual interest, but now Josh is faced with a growing attraction to Cal. Between this conflict and the tension of the mission, Josh’s heart and head are overworked and confused. Things can’t get much worse.
