When Theo Samuels heads off to film on location in the village of Stoneydale, he’s expecting drama to take place on camera, not off. But when he meets gorgeous local lad, Eddie Henderson, he struggles to ignore his attraction. A relationship between the two of them would be utterly impractical, yet they’re drawn together nonetheless. Can they overcome the seemingly endless hurdles between them? Or is their fling destined to remain as just that?
Note: Love on Location has been previously released as part of the Brit Boys: On Boys boxed set.
Love on Location may only be a short story but it’s packed with what makes a story great; strong plot, skilled writing and great characters.
Theo, an actor, has gotten the role of a lifetime when he meets Eddie, a local. They get to know each other as Eddie shows Theo around and friendship turns to attraction and possibly love.
The story was perfectly paced and showed Eddie and Theo falling for each other in a realistic manner. I liked that there wasn’t an HEA because having them fall in love quickly would not have been realistic. Instead we have a HFN but a shot at love down the road. The conflict here wasn’t forced and was dealt with perfectly.
My one complaint is that there was the whole is-he-gay-or-not cliché which I’ve tired of reading so often. But that was very minor and didn’t really affect my enjoyment of the story.
I was very impressed with Joel Leslie’s British accent here. If this had been the first time I heard him I might have thought he actually was British. I suppose a native Brit might think otherwise but to my American ear he sounded just right.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the audiobook of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
