Blurb:

Nat Horn is almost living the dream. His part as a werewolf extra on the hit show Wolf’s Landing has somehow turned into a regular role. Beautiful rising star Solari Praveen has taken an interest in him. He’s even making enough money to think about getting out of Bluewater Bay someday. Except his retired dad’s dependence on pain medications seems to be getting worse, and Nat’s the only one around to take care of him.

When Nat learns that Solari’s interest isn’t romantic, his disappointment is surprisingly short-lived, because in getting to know her, he also got to know her assistant, Rafael. And Rafael turns out to be the kind of friend—and potential boyfriend—Nat never dared to dream about.

Distracted by his astonishing new life, new friends, and new possibilities, Nat lets his guard down, and suddenly his life goes careening out of control. Racked by guilt, he tries to push his new friends away, but the bonds he’s formed are already too strong. In fact, they’re strong enough to pull him forward, into the future he’s been longing for—but to get there, he’ll have to let go of the past.

Playlist – Setting the Mood

For those of you who’ve followed by blog tours before, you know that I always have a “playlist” post. Because I always create a playlist to listen to while I write. A different one for each book, usually. Something that reflects the mood and overall “feel” of the story for me. No Small Parts is no different. This one ended up kind of heavy on songs with a darker—or at least more thoughtful—tone, because that’s how this story feels to me. For most of my playlists, I’ll also have what I call an “anchor” song, meaning it’s connected to the book either by theme, by being directly mentioned in the text, or both. The anchor song here is “Howlin’ For You” by The Black Keys. The theme-ish part is suggested by the title; one of my main characters, Nat Horn, plays a werewolf on the fictional Wolf’s Landing show. The song is also directly mentioned in the book as being Nat’s favorite song by The Black Keys. Yeah, he has good taste. Heh. I also threw in the completely awesome song “Queen” by Perfume Genius—one of my favorite artists— because it’s the ringtone my other main character, Rafael Cortez, has assigned to his friend and mega-star Solari Praveen. I love to do stuff like that because it makes me feel grounded in my story, and in my characters’ world.

Anyhow, here’s a section of my (way too long, honestly) playlist for No Small Parts. It’s up on Spotify as well—minus Follow Me Around, which they don’t have—if y’all want to listen to it. You can hear Follow Me Around on YouTube. Go check it out, it’s well worth the extra click.

Thanks for listening! Hope you enjoy the playlist, and the book. Don’t forget to comment for a chance to win your choice of a book from my backlist. Happy Holidays everyone!

About the Author

Ally Blue is acknowledged by the world at large (or at least by her heroes, who tend to suffer a lot) as the Popess of Gay Angst.

She has a great big suggestively-shaped hat and rides in a bullet-proof Plexiglas bubble in Christmas parades. Her harem of manwhores does double duty as bodyguards and inspirational entertainment. Her favorite band is Radiohead, her favorite color is lime green and her favorite way to waste a perfectly good Saturday is to watch all three extended version LOTR movies in a row.

Her ultimate dream is to one day ditch the evil day job and support the family on manlove alone. She is not a hippie or a brain surgeon, no matter what her kids’ friends say.

  1. Thank you for making me feel less like a freak! LOL. I have playlists too. Oh and Ally Blue…. Your books got me hooked on M/M so ah… thanks for the dent in my bank account over the years. 😉

  2. Hi y’all, thank you so much for all the awesome comments! It’s cool to hear that some of you guys listen to some of the same stuff I do, and even cooler to introduce people to new-to-them music that I love. Also glad to be denting some bank accounts *g* For me, writing and music are closely entwined. And I love them both. Thanks for letting me share that with you <3
