We are here today to talk about Sculpting David. What can you tell us about it?
Sure! Scultping David is a book written in 3 different voices about the main character; David! We see him at 3 completely different stages of his life and each of those stages being told by a particular character.
Please tell us more about our main characters.
- David is the main one. The book revolves as a whole around him and his life. He’s an interesting character, I would like it if you read it and know more about him yourself. I’m afraid of saying too much but what I can say is that he is seen differently by each of the 2 people we also hear speak in the book.
- Blue Eyed Boy is the second main character to appear in the book. He gives us a whole new perspective about David through his love jaded eyes. He’s definitely the romantic in the story in a way. Can almost see no fault in David at all.
- Helen. She’s controversial to say the least. A lot of the readers that have already had the chance to go through the book find her as the villain, I don’t though. She’s a woman who made choices and those choices had repercussions. Is she evil? That’s up to you. I actually like Helen even though I do not agree with what she did although I see her point of view. What did she do you might ask? Read the book 😛
What do you want to tell those who may be new to the series (if applicable)?
Sculpting David is the 1st in a trilogy. So I assume most people will be new to it. I understand that you might not like a voice as much as you might relate to another in the book, but please give all 3 of them a fair chance!! They will be present in the next books to varying degrees!!
What about Sculpting David makes you the proudest?
The characters. I liked them a lot. I’m really proud of Helen actually because she took control even though I do not agree with her decision, I am proud she decided to grasp her life. In terms of the book itself, I am proud that it incites reactions from people. The subject matter is not your typical read, and I love that it really makes people feel something, be it anger or confusion or sadness, etc…
What is next for these characters? Is there more to this series? If so who will we hear from next?
David is back in the next book. It will be in his voice mostly. There are 2 more books in the series, the second in the process of being written.
What part of a new story comes to you first? Characters? Plot? A scene? A theme? Or does it vary from book to book?
Theme, Definitely the Theme! I like to start with that and just flow from there.
What part of writing a book comes the hardest for you?
Getting all my ideas down on paper. I am so scatterbrained sometimes that I cannot get my ideas and words down fast enough and I lose some really good ones which is why I use Scrivener now on my mobile. I am constantly writing.
How will the world end?
Hasn’t it ended already? Isn’t this just a dream? What is the matrix?
If the world were going to end tomorrow, how would you spend your last night on earth?
Holding my loved ones tight and saying I’m sorry for anything stupid I might’ve done (of which I’m sure I’ve done a lot).
