Summary:

Special Agent Jason West is seconded from the FBI Art Crime Team to temporarily partner with disgraced, legendary “manhunter” Sam Kennedy when it appears that Kennedy’s most famous case, the capture and conviction of a serial killer known as The Huntsman, may actually have been a disastrous failure.

For The Huntsman is still out there… and the killing has begun again.

Story Review:

I simply loves how Josh Lanyon stages a mystery. She does a great slow build and is one of the few mystery writers who is able to surprise me with the whodunit.

The style of writing for this one is rather reminiscent of the Adrien English series with a strong focus on the mystery aspect and less of a focus on the coupling.

Jason West and Sam Kennedy made a great pair of not just investigators but also as a couple. They are a complimentary duo for sure. For a time I wasn’t sure Kennedy was going to be gay and was pleasantly surprised when Jason and Sam got together.

Overall a supremely crafted mystery and I look forward to the next book in the series.

Narration Review:

This was my first book narrated by Kale Williams and I really enjoyed it. He has a great timbre with enough changes and inflections in his voice to differentiate the characters.
