Matthias Reynolds loves his life. He’s starting to make it as a graphic artist at last and has a job he really likes at a local café that pays the bills. When a night out clubbing leads to an awkward morning after, he’s embarrassed and more than ready to forget all about it. When Talani Enforcers show up at the café, he doesn’t know what to make of it all as he’s led away in restraints.
Standing accused of crimes he struggles to understand, he finds he has an unexpected champion: the Talani warrior and war hero J’nah Quislin. J’nah knows that Matty is his. All J’nah has to do is keep Matty safe from those who engineered Matty’s charges and sentencing. That, and get Matty to accept that universe always intended them to be together as one. All it requires is for Matty to return J’nah’s devotion and offer his willing submission. Can Matty do it, with all that it will mean for his future?

“Hello. I’d like to welcome you to the Volunteer Program. Here on Kerstyn Station, we aim for a friendly living environment. Kerstyn Station is home to several species members of the Talani Alliance, as well as a few from applicant worlds such as Earth. There is a host of activities to be enjoyed, from dedicated shopping areas, to a large public park. Your training will be done on the job, providing you with genuine experience as you learn.
Please read the rules and regulations carefully, as infractions may lead to arrest and transfer to the Volunteer Penal program or imprisonment. You will be met on station by your section chief, and debriefed. If you have any questions about life on the station or the laws of the Talani, be sure to bring it to their attention.
You’ll find a map of the station on your assigned datapad, as well special offers from local vendors. Kerstyn has a pilot pet program for which you may apply. Details on that will be found within the welcome packet also on your datapad. We look forward welcoming you and hope you become a full member of the Kerstyn community.
Welcome to Kerstyn!
Subsection 12: Know the Talani.
It is important to understand that the Talani are a three gendered species- male, female, and Sachari. The Sachari are essentially male in general appearance, albeit with a pouch in which they carry young hatched from an egg laid by a female and fertilized by the male after he has bonded with the Sachari, blending their DNA. The females do not bond. They lay their eggs and match them to male/Sachari bond pairs. Due to a genocidal war, Sachari have become rare and so the Talani Alliance participate in genetic trade where compatible males of partner species undergo alteration to give them the physical characteristics that will allow them to carry a hatched young for their chosen mate. Talani males are very dominant, a trait that spills over from their mating relationships and into their general social hierarchy. It is therefore important to always show proper submission to orders and those of higher rank. Should you encounter a Sachari, be wary! Talani males are very protective of their Sachari and become easily enraged should an upset occur.
About the Author
Leona is a longtime staunch supporter of human rights and environmental causes. Her favourite genre to read is M/M fiction and she particularly enjoys science fiction, fantasy, and action/suspense sub-genres—especially if they have a nice seasoning of romance. She has far too many books on her Kindle, has overloaded her phone with even more and, when not reading, writing, being driven to distraction by her children, or being overlorded by her three cats, can be found trying to locate the portal that the sock monster uses to steal socks from her dryer.
Recently head-reeling news for her included her novel Jared:Urban Wolves #1 being nominated for an Indie Award from Metamorph and placing as a finalist in the 2016 Rainbow Awards, earning an Honorable Mention. She’s still suspicious that it’s all been a dream, but as long as her readers are happy and she can find at least one of the missing socks, she’s happy.
One random commenter with thoughtful, relevant comments will win a $25 gift certificate each month in 2016.
