Ms. Charles always pleases. Wanted, A Gentleman was no exception. I loved the interracial romance even more because it was set in the early 1800’s. I loved the Lonely Heart ads and using them as a vehicle for the plot was inspired.
The main characters were great. I could fully picture Theo and Martin and their jaunt across England. I liked how they were with each other and I appreciated finding out Martin’s motivations and back story. I felt it was very fitting of the time and circumstance.
I also loved the little touches given in the scenes – the cat in Theo’s office, the lurid colours of the chaise, the contents of the letters Theo received each day – they all brought the book to life. I really felt the setting and atmosphere of the time.
It is not a long story but doesn’t feel short. I encourage people to read this.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
