This is not a stand alone novel.
The Mad Dogs return to Camp Smokey in the North Carolina Mountains brings more changes than just their brand new downtime base. A new Council Representative is the least of the changes thrust upon the unit.
Promotions that are unwanted, more questions Doc needs to answer, and born shifters to be recruited in hopes that they can become Mad Dogs. But even with new allies, the Council and the Organization just won’t give the unit a break.
Mad Dogs Series:
This book contains M/M sexual situations and is intended for readers of legal age in the country in which they reside. Please store your adult literature responsibly.
There are a lot of unique components to the Mad Dogs series by Brenda Cothern that drew me in right from the start. Allies introduces us to yet more ‘pieces’ of the story that you don’t find in most shifter books and this story felt almost like a bridge to the next books in the series as the team and their dynamics grow and evolve.
This is not a standalone book. In fact because of the way the team is formed and how they work this is a series that needs to be read in order – if you haven’t read the first 6 books then Allies will make no sense to you at all. It can also be confusing when using just the initials of the characters names and it takes me a bit of time to settle back into each new instalment. As with any series that evolves there are a lot of changes that take place and in this case it is the introduction of new characters. There are a lot of new names and faces here and I can’t wait to see where the author goes with them and how it will all work.
After the events in A.W.O.L (book 6) the team has finally returned to their base at Camp Smokey but that is where the similarities to their old lives end. The base has changed, the leadership has changed and within the first few days the team has changed – or should that be teams? This book is a settling in period for the Mad Dogs but before they can get too comfortable the end is nigh and it brings a new mission – roll on book 8 so we can see how this mish mash of soldiers works together.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
