Can you ever hold on to a ghost?
Elliot is tracking an elusive killer, codenamed Ghost, with ties to organized crime. Every time the Sanctuary team gets close, Ghost slips their grasp.
Cole has nowhere left to turn. With his father dying and his sister in danger, he turns for help to the very people trying to track him down. Sanctuary’s assistance is what he needs to punch another hole in Varga’s organization.
When Elliot and Cole meet, it isn’t just passion that consumes them. When lust becomes something more, Elliot realizes that sometimes you can’t hold on to a ghost, and that sacrifice is often the only way to make things right.
In writing Ghost I did a lot of research in the changes in organized crime in Chicago over the years. Everyone knows about the mafia, there have been enough films made about this time, and of course the mafia is still out there along with all kinds of new gangs, and groups, all combining to run drugs and people through the city.
In Ghost I have a central character trying to make things right. I cant say more than that or it will ruin the book but the concept of someone being caught up in crime and passing down the legacy of regret is one I loved exploring. One of the biggest money creating crime industries in Chicago is human trafficking, and of course drugs. At one point our heroes are faced with ten children trapped in a burning building; these children are nothing more than currency to be used to facilitate deals. Seems to have come a long way from bootlegging in the early days of gangsters.
Some of the research led me around dark corners that I wished I’d never read, but I desperately wanted to write hope in my story and I think the hope is there in every action from both Elliot and Cole. Ironically my story starts with a single man back in 1956, who arrives in New York evading escaping the Hungarian Revolution. It is his legacy that is being made right in this book.
As usual in a Sanctuary book there is action, cars, guns, heroism, and of course the appearance of some favorite characters (Kayden, Nik, Manny, Josh) and isn’t really a standalone book. The entire series is now 9 books and began with Guarding Morgan.
I hope you enjoy.
